To Build A Shuttle

Station life can get boring. The halls never change, and you may find yourself amused by a bag of trash on the ground, moved by the flow of cold artificial air, before the overworked Janitor throws it in a trash bag and carts it away.

Let's build a shuttle! Find your Tools room, scavenge the emergency pods, and grab the following:

  1. Wrench, Screwdriver, Crowbar, and Wirecutters
  2. Steel (x90), Glass (x90), Thruster (x4)
  3. LV, MV, and HV cable (ideally, x60, but x30 works)
  4. Shuttle APU, APC, and Wallmount Substation boards
  5. Shuttle Console board
  6. Air Canister
  7. Door electronics (x3)

Now you need to find a way into space. Grab an emergency EVA suit, make sure there's some kinda plating under your feet, and begin! Make some rods, and build out a small floorplan like so:

Now you will want to construct girders around the ship like so:

Fill in the gaps with steel sheets to make walls, and add some windows. Make sure to also lay down your wires. I took this picture before laying all the steel sheets down, so it was clear where you need to lay the wire.

Now you are ready to place the wallmounts down. Place the wallmounted APU on the westmost wall, and the substation to the northeast of that. You can bring in the thrusters at any time, but now is probably good.

Now it's time for atmospherics to be set up. The ship is still exposed to space, but setting this up now is much better than waiting until we're practically done to do it, when the ship will be all cluttered.

Now it's time for the doors. I hope you brought plenty of glass. Windoors on the same square tile helps stop too much atmosphere from being lost when going in and out. The reason why the scrubber goes into the airlock is because that room will be spaced anyways, so it's best to just use it as the waste loop.

Finally, you can set up the shuttle console. You should know how to construct these, so I don't think I need to take an image for you. The rest is up to you! Gyroscope? Gravity generator? Just figure out what you can do with a few tiles of space. You can always modify this design to make it bigger, but this is the smallest (functional) one I have been able to make. You can now snip the small lattice behind your ship, and take off into the stars!
